Waffles In the KitchenOnce upon a time there was a beautiful little girl. She had long golden hair, sparkling hazel eyes, perfect little fingers and perfect little toes. She was one of those little girls you wish were your own - curious personality, inquisitive mind and gorgeous living nature.
One day…just before her 5th birthday, she woke up very early in the morning to the warm rays streaming into her room…dancing on the faces of her dolls and teddies. Excited by the start of a new day of adventure…she climbed out of bed and scurried down the hallway to her parent's bedroom. Ever so lightly she tapped on the door:
'Daddy…daddy…are you awake? Its morning…the birds are singing.'
A low moan comes from behind the door… 'Come in angel.'
Smiling gaily she rushes in and jumps on the bed…and huddles into her dad's warm sleepy arms. He plants a big kiss on her head. 'And what are you up to today little one?' he asks, his eyes adjusting to the bright sunshine streaming in through the curtains.
'Mmm, well…I'll make
Bo.When Lindsay was born, Bo was there. Standing beside her mother, he was the first thing she ever saw. But he was not her father; her father stood on the other side.
Bo was there until the very moment she died.
The sun shone bright through the windows of her pink-laden room. She loved pink. And black.
“Because Bo is black,” she’d told her parents.
Her imaginary friend, they soon concluded.
“Bo is all black,” she described one night as her father tucked her in, “His skin and his hair and everything. He doesn’t talk a lot.”
Her father frowned.
“He sounds scary.”
“He’s not,” she insisted.
Bo sat on the bed and said nothing.
Her father kissed her good night and turned out the light.
“Why can’t Dad see you?” she asked.
“Are you real?”
“Are you real?” he replied.
“How do you know?”
